The National Fire Academy Alumni Association (NFAAA) was founded by the proposition of Fire Engineering Magazine who fundamentally assisted us with establishing and creating the Association. Our objective is to provide this resource to the National Fire Academy (NFA) students dues free. The Alumni Association helps the more than 32,000 alumni around the world stay connected to each other and to the NFA. We look to you for your support through alumni leadership and through website suggestions and volunteering content contributions. We ask that you patronize Fire Engineering, our primary sponsor, for all of your training needs.
The Association is governed by a board composed of 10 Directors aligned with the FEMA Regions. The Board of Directors convenes to focus on various alumni issues. There is an annual meeting of the Alumni Association each year at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) held in Indianapolis, IN which all alumni are invited and encouraged to attend.
We want to hear from you about topics of interest and importance to the NFA alumni. Please contact us with your thoughts and suggestions. Your involvement is imperative to the ongoing success of the NFA Alumni Association.
One of the attributes of a NFA education is the way we connect theory to hands-on practice as it relates to our careers in the fire and emergency services. Providing support is one of the best ways you can translate your appreciation for your education into meaningful, hands-on work.
Thousands of alumni put their talents and expertise to good use each year in support of the training and education they receive at the NFA. They provide career guidance for other students, serve on boards and committees, help with student recruitment, and devote their time in many other ways that are both personally satisfying and essential to the health and welfare of the fire service.
Our members consist of all ranks—firefighter to chief, men, women, all races, creeds, and religions. We encourage you as a NFA graduate to join our cause. Our common thread is excellence in fire and emergency services throughout the country, and we believe with our enrollment numbers, we have a voice at the NFA, the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). We are dues free.
